Zamfara Abduction: Police, Military, Others Collaborating To Rescue Victims – CP

The Zamfara State Commissioner of Police, CP Ayuba N. Elkana, has assured that the police is collaborating with the military and other security agencies to rescue the remaining victims of the attack by bandits on the State’s College of Agriculture.

Elkana made this known during an emergency meeting with the management of the school, which he visited earlier today and toured, assessing existing security arrangements on the site to enable more reinforcement be provided against further invasion.

TheFact Nigeria reports that 19 persons, made up of 15 students and 4 staffers of the institution, were abducted when heavily armed men suspected to be bandits, stormed the school sometime around midnight on Sunday, 15 August.

According to the State Command’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, SP Mohammed Shehu, the bandits stormed the school in large numbers but met heavy confrontation by the Tactical Police Operatives who were alerted and responded to the scene on time.

Unfortunately, a police inspector and two other civilian guards lost their lives while the abductors made away with the victims.

The CP added that in the course of an extensive bush combing at the sorrounding areas, 3 of the staffers were rescued. They are expected to be debriefed and medically examined before being reunited with their families.
