Isoko Bye-Election: Delta Police Chief Orders Massive Deployment Of Personnel

Following the Isoko south constituency 1 bye election scheduled to take place tomorrow, Saturday 11th September 2021, the Commissioner of police Delta State CP Ari Muhammed Ali, has ordered massive deployment of personnel to provide security during the elections.

According to the State Command’s Public Relations Officer, PRO, DSP Bright Edafe, who disclosed this in a statement earlier today, the election will be held in Isoko south Local Government Council Area of the State.

TheFact Nigeria recalls that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, had, in August, fixed Saturday 11th September 2021 for the conduct of a by-election to fill the vacant Isoko South State Constituency seat following the death of Hon. Kenneth Odafe Ogba on 27th June 2021.

The CP reiterated the commitment of the Delta State Police Command to ensuring the security of everyone in the local government by the deployment of its officers to all the polling units as well as some speculated hot spots in the LGA to maintain peace and calm all through the electioneering process.

He also enjoined caution on the front runners in this Local Government bye election as well as all their supporters and foot soldiers, and appealed that they to restrain themselves from causing chaos as such will not be tolerated.

He further warned that no police aid or security agent will be allowed to escort their principals or any important personalities (VIPs) to polling units, adding that no will be allowed throughout the duration of the election excercise.

‘Moreso, there will be restriction of movement around Isoko south local government area from Friday 10th September 2021 by 0000hours to Saturday 11th September 2021 by 1600hours’, the statement read.

CP Ari Muhammed Ali noted that any security aid violating this directive will be arrested and made to face the full wrath of the law.

Meanwhile, the CP has reiterated that Police personnel deployed for the elections will be professional in carrying out their designated duties as assigned.

‘The commissioner of police delta state is wishing all a safe voting exercise’, Edafe stated.
