Covid-19: France Joins Nigeria’s List of Vaccine Donors

Nigeria, on Monday October 4, 2021, recieved 501,600 doses of AstraZeneca covid-19 vaccines donated by the Government of France through the COVAX facility.

Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib disclosed this on Friday, October 8, 2021 while inspecting the vaccines at the NPHCDA National Strategic Cold store in Abuja

TheFact Nigeria noted that the country was putting more effort in calling for vaccine donations than in manufacturing them.

Dr. Faisal described the donation of over half a million doses of AstraZeneca to Nigeria as a demonstration of France’s confidence in Nigeria’s capability as an active and progressive partner in the global fight to end the COVID-19 pandemic.

He further stated that the country’s vaccine storage facilities were efficient and well maintained and assured the Ambassador of France,
Ambassador Jerome Pasquie that no vaccine vial would be wasted, he said:

“No standards are compromised in logistics requirements for effective management and utilization of all COVID-19 vaccines available in Nigeria.

“The Federal Government has in place the necessary measures to ensure monitoring and accountability of the vaccines.

“We track utilization of all COVID-19 vaccines in all states of the Federation and receive daily report from our Senior Supervisors and State Immunization officers who are on the field to monitor the management and administration of the vaccines”, Dr. Faisal said.

He promised to work with development partners and engage with all stakeholders to sustain transparency in the vaccination program.
