Goronyo Killings: Buhari Vows To Crush Perpetrators

President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari.

President Muhammadu Buhari has sent a tough warning to perpetrators of the Goronyo massacre, stressing that “reality will soon dawn on them harder than ever before”.

Buhari, in a statement issued by his spokesperson, and Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr. Garba Shehu, reacted to the killing of over 30 people in Goronyo market in Goronyo LGA of Sokoto State on Sunday, and told the killer-bandits that the clock of their ultimate destruction was ticking as they would no longer have a place to hide.

TheFact Nigeria reports that scores of villagers were feared dead following an attack by a large number of armed bandits on Sunday night, who invaded the market, shooting sporadically and killing several persons.

The President noted that the bandits were currently under desperate pressures as a result of the intense and sustained air and ground operations against them in their hideouts by security forces.

“The cowardly attacks on innocent people by the bandits show a rearguard action of criminals under pressure. But they will have no place to hide and our gallant security forces will not relent in the current offensive to defeat these callous enemies of humanity”, President Buhari said.

While urging all Nigerians “not to despair”, as his administration is determined more than ever before to protect Nigerians from murderous criminal gangs that have no respect for the sanctity human of life, the Commander-in-Chief extended his sympathy to the families of the victims of the Goronyo attack and called on the people to continue to be patient as the “military strategises on how to deliver the crushing blow to these bandits.”
