Buhari To Declare Open International Conference On Safe Schools Declaration

The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari GCFR will on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 declare open, the 4th International Conference on Safe Schools Declaration.

This was contained in a press release signed by the Director, Press and Public Relations, Federal Ministry of Education, Dr. Ben Bem Goong.

TheFact Nigeria gathered that there has been increased attacks on schools and school children in the country for over a decade.

The conference which is being co-hosted by Nigeria, Spain, Norway and Argentina is aimed at reviewing progressive being made by member states in the quest to make schools safer globally.

One hundred and twelve countries,including Nigeria are signatory to the Safe Schools Declaration protocol.

Nigeria is hosting the first in the series on the African soil. The conference which will be declared Open by the President will take place at the Economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) Secretariat in Abuja. In-person and virtual participation is expected from around the world.

This conference is coming on the heels of growing global concerns about the safety of schools especially in conflict zones.
