FG Partners SOSOCOVID To Tell The Nigerian Covid-19 Story

The Federal Ministry of Health has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Society Committee Against COVID-19 (SOSOCOVID), to document government and stakeholders’ activities during the Covid-19 pandemic.

TheFact Nigeria gathered that a school of thought argue that the project was an absolute waste of money since the information were readily available on the internet.

Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, represented by the Director, Health System Strengthening Division in the ministry, Mr Okwudili Okechukwu, posited that the project would educate Nigerians on issues of Covid-19.

Ehanire said stakeholder’s played vital roles in curbing the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic in the country and it was necessary to document it.

In the same vein, Director SOCOCOVID, Kenneth Ibe Kalu stated that they decided to chronicle the advent of Corona Virus ‘in the Book of Records titled “COVID 19-THE NIGERIAN STORY” because events not written were often lost to History.

He explained that the book was for Nigerians, the larger world and the next generation and hinted that it would accommodate profiles of support, innovations and contributions of Mr. President, Governors, Presidential Task Force, State Task Forces, the Minister of the Federal Ministry of Health, State Governments, Nigerian Center for Disease Control (NCDC), Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), Private Sector Organizations, Civil Society Organizations, Political Leaders, Faith Based Organizations, Local and International NGOs, Private Individuals and the Nigerian Media.

In closing, Kalu thanked all who put their hands on deck to ensure the book was a success and concluded saying “My hope and aspiration is that the book, ‘COVID 19-THE NIGERIAN STORY’ will be found in all public and private libraries of the world”.
