123 Nigerians Evacuated From Ukraine Arrive Abuja-NEMA

A total number of 123 Nigerians evacuated by the Federal Government from war torn Ukraine have arrived Abuja.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Head of Media and Publicity, National Emergency Management Agency, (NEMA), Mr. Manzo Ezekiel on Friday.

TheFact Nigeria learned that an infant was among the returnees.

NEMA said that the evacuees were airlifted from Poland onboard the Air Peace Flight that touched down at Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja on March 11, 2022 at 1:20am.

They were received by the Federal Government team led by NEMA and other agencies under the Federal Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development.

Also present were representatives of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nigerian Immigration  Service, Port Health Services, Nigerian Centre for Disease Control, etc.

The Director of Search and Rescue Air Commodore Edward Kolawole Adedokun addressed the evacuees on behalf of the Director General of NEMA Mustapha Habib Ahmed.

He welcomed them back to the country and outlined the processes of the documentation before exiting from the airport.

Also speaking, an official of Nigerian in Diaspora Commission Abdulrahman Terab welcomed them on behalf of the Federal Government and assured them that arrangements had been made to support them with transport subsidy of USD$100 to their various locations.
