Another Plateau Monarch Kidnapped

Gunmen have abducted the paramount ruler of Vwang District, Jos South Local Government Area in Plateau State, Da Gyang Balak.

Spokesman for the Plateau State Police Command, ASP Gabriel Ubah, confirmed the incident earlier today. Also, the Lawmaker representing Jos South in the State House of Assembly, Fom Dalyop Gwottson, confirmed the monarch’s abduction.

TheFact Nigeria recalls that barely three weeks ago, precisely in the early hours of Sunday, 26 December, 2021, the paramount traditional ruler of Gindiri, in Mangu Local Government Area of Plateau State, Charles Mato Dakat, was kidnapped by gunmen after his palace was attacked. His abductors had made contact with the family members a few days later and demanded the sum of N500 million ransom before they could release the monarch. Dakat, however, eventually regained his freedom after five days in captivity. There was no confirmation of the payment of the ransome.

TheFact Nigeria gathered that Da Gyang Balak was ambushed near the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies in Kuru community while driving home, when the gunmen accosted him and whisked him away to an undisclosed destination.

According to the Military Information Officer of Operation Safe Haven, Major Ishaku Takwa, who also confirmed the kidnap of the traditional ruler, troops in conjunction with other security agencies are on the trail of the kidnappers. “God’s willing, the security agencies will soon close-up on the criminals”, he said.
