CAC Targets December Deadline For Online Operations

Registrar General of the Corporate Affairs Commission, (CAC), Abubakar Garba has said that by December 2020, all the Commission’s operations will be electronic.

The Registrar-General said this at a press conference on Saturday in Abuja. He spoke on some of his new reforms and sundry developments in the Commission.

TheFact Nigeria reports that the reforms are geared towards protecting the staff in the face of the Covid-19 pandemic while also affectively achieving customer service delivery to the public.

Garba said: “As we all know, these are unusual times. Because our system is not fully electronic, customers are allowed to visit our offices to file their applications, to receive applications that have been processed, to conduct searches and carry out other transactions.

“Applications are being filed on a daily basis. Customers expect to get results as if the situation is normal. Almost everyday, Monday to Friday, we attend to nothing less than 500 customers.

“As a responsible institution, we cannot allow the matter to degenerate to the the level where the safety and good health of our staff will be compromised.

“Government has issued regulations on Covid-19. With the number of staff at work, we won’t be able to operate in the manner we were doing. We won’t be able to allow customers come into the premises.

“We will continue to provide service to our customers within the purview of laid down regulations.

“It is unfortunate that our online system has not been fully completed but we have the target, December this year to have everything electronic”.
