COAS Will Keep Promise To Reward Gallantry – Theatre Commander

The Theatre Commander, (TC) Joint Task Force, North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), Major General Christopher Musa, has assured frontline troops in various locations that the Chief Of Army Staff, COAS, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya, would keep his promise to reward acts of gallantry.

Musa gave the assurances while on a 2-day familiarization and operational visit to troops in the frontlines, as well as units and formations in the Theatre of OPHK.

The visit was kicked off in 7 Division Garrison and units under command, for the TC to acquaint himself with the locations, assess troops’ deployment, as well as the efforts employed to counter Boko Haram Terrorists, BHTs, and their Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) collaborators.

General Musa also visited Headquarters, 27 Task Force Brigade Buni Gari, where he evaluated the operational readiness of the Brigade and units under it.

On arrival at Buni Yadi, Musa was received by Commander Sector 2, Brigadier General Adamu Nura, Commander 27 Task Force Brigade (Bde), Brigadier General Bemgba Koughna and the Deputy Commandant Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Brigadier General Warrah Idris, before proceeding to the Brigade location in Buni Gari, where he addressed troops of the Brigade and members of the vigilante group deployed in the area.

The Theatre Commander, in his address, conveyed the commendation and appreciation of the COAS to the troops for their commitment in the fight against terrorism and insurgency, and assured them of the Army Chief’s determination to provide adequate support and logistics to execute the war.

Musa also charged the troops to remain focused and dedicated in the fight against terrorism, and urged them to be disciplined and maintain the tempo of the operations.

The Theatre Commander was accompanied on the visit by Commander, 7 Division Garrison, Brigadier General Abubakar Haruna, Theatre Civil/Military Coordinator, Navy Captain Sunday Ayuba and other Principal Staff Officers in the Theatre.
