Court Dismisses FG’s Request For Abba Kyari’s Extradition To US

A Federal High Court, Abuja, has dismissed a suit instituted by the Federal Government seeking to extradite the suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police, DCP Abba Kyari, to the United States of America (USA).

Justice Inyang Ekwo, in a judgment, Monday, described the extradition request as “an abuse of court process,” on the grounds that Mr Kyari was already standing a criminal trial before another court.

TheFact Daily recalls that the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), had in March, disclosed the FG’s approval of the request by the government of the United States to extradite Abba Kyari over an alleged $1.1million wire fraud involving Abass Ramon aka Hushpuppi and four others.

Kyari is also facing a criminal trial on allegations of drug deal filed against him and others by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, (NDLEA).

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for Central District of California, Los Angeles, had recently confirmed that Hushpuppi would be sentenced on 21 September.
