Court Dismisses Suit To Sack Buhari As Winner Of 2019 Presidential Election

President Muhammadu Buhari.

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, the nation capital has dismissed a lawsuit challenging the victory of Muhammadu Buhari’s in the 2019 election.

While delivering the Judgement Monday, justice Inyang Ekwo dismissed the claim as unsubstantiated and an abuse of legal process.

TheFact Daily reports that Ambrose Oworu, the presidential candidate of Hope Democratic Party (HDP), had filed a lawsuit against the election of President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressive Congress (APC) in the 2019 presidential election.

He wants the court to declare the presidential seat vacant and not declare Buhari the actual winner of the 2019 election as he also pray the court to declare that the INEC’s postponement of the elections from February 16 to February 23 as unconstitutional and illegal.

Oworu claimed that he won the February 16, 2019 presidential election and that his lawsuit against Buhari in the Supreme Court was inconclusive due to errors in the postponed date.

Justice Ekwo, however, said that the Supreme Court has the final say on the matter brought before it.
