Covid-19 Vaccination: None Died Out Of 6m Nigerians Vaccinated- FG

The Federal Government has disclosed that none of the nearly six million Nigerians who recieved the covid-19 vaccines died as a result of taking the vaccine.

Executive Director, National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), Dr. Faisal Shuaib made the disclosure at the National Flag-off of Mass Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign on November 19, 2021 in Abuja.

TheFact Nigeria observed that the Federal Government was using every option available to coerce people into recieving the vaccine, thus raises suspicion amongst Nigerians.

Delivering his keynote address at the flag-off, Minister of Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, stated that Nigeria ranked among the high performing countries in total covid-19 response, including vaccine roll out.

He however stressed that more work needed to be done, considering the minute number of 5,985,049 persons vaccinated out of our population of 214million people.

Ehanire stated that the government’s aim was to have vaccinated 55 million residents of Nigeria by the end of January, 2022, adding that there were sufficient vaccines to achieve it.

He reiterated the government’s commitement to providing authentic vaccines to it’s citizens:

“Federal Government is committed to providing safe and efficacious Covid-19 vaccines and dispensing them backed with accountability and transparency.

“All vaccines are tagged and tracked by NAFDAC to ensure that quality and potency is maintained in the supply chain.

“No vaccine is allowed to any vaccination except authenticated and with safety verification. We do not compromise safety and standards,” He said.

Speaking on the progress of the vaccination exercise, the NPHCDA Boss noted that only 3% of the country’s eligible population had received both doses of the covid-19 vaccines.

He however expressed concern over those who are yet to receive theirs, seeing that the Federal Government was fulfilling its commitment to providing the vaccines at zero cost to all Nigerians.

Shuaib stated that with the flag-off of nationwide mass vaccination, there will be vaccination centers in Churches, Mosques, Malls, Offices, Schools e.t.c in addition to those available in Primary Health Care centers, He therefore encouraged the public to visit the centre closest to them and get vaccinated.
He said:

“Let us remember that the year is fast ending, and we are going to be experiencing mass travels and gathering for festivities.

“This period is indeed a high-risk one for the spread of COVID-19. We are all stakeholders in each other’s health and well-being.

“We therefore have to join hands and hearts to protect one another against COVID-19. Please go out and get vaccinated against COVID-19! Mobilize your families and communities for mass vaccination, and together we will rid our country of COVID-19 and recover from its economic and social adversities”, said Dr. Shuaib.
