Depressed Nigerian Soldier Kills Subordinate In Borno

A trooper of the Nigerian Army serving in 202 Battalion of 21 Special Armoured Brigade Bama in Borno State, who suddenly went berserk, has shot and killed a lower ranking officer.

The incident which was reported by the acting director, Army Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, occurred at about 10:30 am on the 29th of July 2020, when the soldier approached the officer who was standing in front of the Unit’s Headquarters making a phone call.

The soldier has been arrested and is currently undergoing investigation. The general situation in the unit however, is calm.

The remains of the deceased officer have been evacuated to 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital, while investigation into the case has since been instituted to determine the circumstances that led to the unfortunate incident.

Meanwhile, the family of the deceased has already been contacted.

Colonel Sagir Musa, on behalf of the Nigerian Army expressed sympathy with the family in this trying moment.

He offered prayers to the Almighty God for the repose of the soul of the departed, and that his family and other loved ones be granted the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
