EFCC: AGF Confirms Magu’s Suspension, Umar Appointment

President Muhammadu Buhari has approved the immediate suspension of Ibrahim Magu as Acting Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

A statement by the Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations to the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF) and Minister of Justice, Dr Umar Gwandu, on Friday said the suspension was to allow for unhindered inquiry by the Presidential Investigation Panel under the Tribunals of Inquiry Act and other relevant laws.

The Fact had earlier reported the suspension of the anti-corruption agency’s helsman an Police officer, while being held in detention.

The AGF also said President Muhammadu Buhari also approved that the EFCC Director of Operations, Mohammed Umar, take charge and oversee the activities of the Commission.

Umar would be overseeing the commission pending the conclusion of the ongoing investigation and further directives in that regards, it noted.
