Ex-CP’s Wife Shot, Killed In Her Makurdi Home

The Benue State Police Command has confirmed the gruesome murder of Mrs. Eunice Aghanya, wife of retired Commissioner of Police, Ibezimako Aghanya.

The State Police Command spokesperson, CSP Catherine Anene, who confirmed the incident said, investigation is on – going and that more information will be disclosed in due course.

TheFact Nigeria learnt that the incident happened on Friday, at her residence located off David Mark bye-pass, in Markudi, the Benue state capital.

A source disclosed that the deceased was believed to have been trailed to her home by her assailants.

The source disclosed that the deceased’s husband, who resides in Lagos, nursing a premonition that something was amis, asked his younger brother to check in on his wife, Friday evening.

According to the source, when the younger Aghanya got to the house, he had to break the door open after several calls that went unanswered, even though her car was parked outside. It was when he successfully gained entrance into the house that he found the deceased lying dead in a pool of her own blood, having suffered several machete blows to the head. The deceased lived alone.

It is noted that this incident is happening only days after erstwhile governor of Benue state, now lawmaker representing Benue North East Senatorial District, Senator Gabriel Suswam’s older brother, Chief Terkura Suswam was gruesomely murdered by unknown gunmen suspected to be loyalists of late militia leader, Terwase Agwaza alias Gana, in his country home at Anyiin in Logo LGA of the state, and which sparked widespread outrage and condemnation.

Senator Suswam, lamenting the lingering insecurity in the axis had expressed regret that his brother had to “pay the supreme price”, and that the assassination of his brother should mark an end to insecurity in the state.
