Ex-Customs Chief, Dikko Passes On

Immediate past Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Dikko

The immediate past Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Customs Service, Abdullahi Dikko, is dead.

It was learnt that the Katsina State indigene, who led the NCS from 2009 to 2015, died after battling an unknown ailment.

TheFact Nigeria gathered that he former Customs Chief had been facing corruption-related charges  by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC and the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC.

Facing charges alongside the former CG, were Garba Makarfi, ex-Assistant Comptroller-General of Customs (Finance, Administration and Technical Services), and Umar Hussaini, a lawyer and owner of Capital Law.

Dikko’s house, said to be worth N1.1bn, including cars worth hundreds of millions of naira were seized by the EFCC under the leadership of erstwhile Chairman, Ibrahim Magu.

His case could not proceed, however, due to his failing health. In December 2020, the ICPC and its Chairman, Prof Bolaji Owasanoye, were restrained from arresting and prosecuting Dikko.
