FG Describes Edo Train Station Attack As Barbaric

The Federal Government has condemned the recent train attack at the Tom Ikimi train station in Igueben Edo State, saying it was despicable and barbaric.

The Minister of Transportation, Engr. Mua’zu Sambo disclosed this in a statement by the Director Press and Public Relations, Henshaw Ogubike on Sunday in Abuja.

TheFact Daily reports that suspected herdsmen had on Saturday evening kidnapped travelers who were waiting to board a train from the Igueben station in Igueben local government area of Edo to Warri in Delta state.

The captors who stormed the train station with AK 47 rifles, shot sporadically into the air before abducting some passengers into the bush.

However, the federal government said, “the Public is hereby reassured that the security Agencies are making efforts to rescue the kidnapped Train passengers.

“The Nigerian Police is on the trail of the criminals and have mobilised with a view to protecting the lives and property of the remaining passengers.

“The Government is saddened by this unpleasant development and assures on its prompt response to the ugly situation, ”it stated.
