FG Empowering Women As Nation’s Economic Builders -Katagum

Minister of State for Industry, Trade and Investment, Ambassador Mariam Yalwaji Katagum has said that the present government was empowering Nigerian women entrepreneurs to enable them contribute to the growth of the nation’s economy.

Ambassador Katagum said this during a presentation titled: “Women in Economic Development, Commerce and Industry” at the #Nigeria @60 Expo as part of the closing ceremony of the event which ended in Abuja on Saturday.

TheFact Nigeria gathered that the Minister advised women to develop keen interest in contributing their quota to national economic development women as they were the nation’s builders.

She said that the government’s empowerment was being done through various intervention programnes and grants.

Katagum said her Ministry had initiated many programnes to sustain the activities of small scale businesses to cushion the effects of the impact of Cocid-19 pandemic.

Also speaking, Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed said that the present government had initiated various laudable programnes and policies aimed to enhance the development of small scale businesses nationwide.

He advised indigenous manufacturers to take avail themselves for the federal government’s Small and Medium Entreprises, (SMEs) financing programnes to boost their production.

Other speakers also hampered on the need for the patronage of Made In Nigeria goods and services to ensure national economic recovery and growth.

Various indigenous goods on display included beaded jewelry made from precious stones, herbal tea, packaged food products such as casava flakes, tomato powder, plantain flour and chips, beans flour, spices and home care products.

On display also were different brands of cars made in Nigeria, including IVM motors by Innoson manufacturers, Honda, and the first indigenous electric car, Kona, among others.

Meanwhile, some indigenous manufacturers have called for more programmes that would assist the growth of Small and Medium Enterprises, SME’s to further stimulate national economic development.
