FG Evacuates Another 301 Nigerians From Ukraine

Another set of 301 Nigerians including an infant evacuated by the Federal Government from Ukraine have arrived Nigeria.

A statement released on Saturday night   by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) said that the returnees were received by a team of Federal Agencies coordinated by NEMA.

TheFact Nigeria learned that the returnees who arrived the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja at 8:40pm on Saturday, were airlifted via Budapest, Hungary.

NEMA’s Director General, Mustapha Habib Ahmed who was represented by the Director of Search and Rescue, Air Commodore Edward Adedokun welcomed them back to the country.

He explained to the returnees that the Federal Government had made arrangements to support them to their various locations.

Also speaking, the Director Consular Department, Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Bolaji Akinremi said that the evacuation would continue in line with the Federal Government’s commitment to bring home all Nigerians affected by the situation in Ukraine.

TheFact Nigeria recalled that on Friday, March 11, 2022, a number of 123 Nigerians were evacuated back to the country by the Federal Government.

The returnees were airlifted from Poland on board an Air Peace flight which had touched down the tarmac of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport at 1:20am on March 11.
