FG Opens Sokoto-Tambuwal-Jega-Kontagora-Makera Road, Cautions Against Abuse

The Federal Government has opened the newly constructed Sokoto-Tambuwal-Jega-Kontagora-Makera Road.

The Project Completion and  Hand over flag off, held on Thursday November 25, 2021 at Koko/Besse, Kebbi state.

TheFact Nigeria gathered that the Buhari-led administration had constructed more roads than previous administrations, however there have been concerns as to whether they will durable.

Speaking at the hand over, President, Federal Republic of Nigeria represented by the Minister of Justice and Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami said the road was built to the highest quality of design and workmanship.

He stated that if it was used well, it
should last for the designed service life, hence urging his listeners to avoid abusing the road, he said:

“We must all do our best to avoid these practices, report them when they occur and act in a lawful manner to stop
them.

“Road abuse takes many forms such as overloading of vehicles and trucks which accelerates pavement damage, spilling of petroleum products, which dissolves all the components and allows water to penetrate, and converting the road shoulders to permanent parking places, that brings the onset of road failure from the shoulder”, Buhari said.

The Minister of Works and Housing, Mr. Babatunde Fashola  hinted that this was the beginning of many more project completion in the country.

Those in the pipeline include: Section II covering 142.2 x 2 (dual) Kilometers between Shuwarin and Azare, connecting Jigawa and Bauchi States, Section III covering 106.3 x 2 Kilometers between Azare and Potiskum , connecting Bauchi and Yobe States, Vandeikya-Obudu Cattleranch Road covering 24 Kilometers connecting Benue and Cross River States and Nnewe- Uduma- Uburu Road covering 26.27 Kilometers with 14 Kilometers spur to Ishiagu connecting Enugu and Ebonyi States.
