FG Rebrands NITDA To Align With Digital Nigeria Agenda

The Federal Government has rebranded National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) to align with the National Digital Policy and Strategy for a Digital Nigeria.

Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Dr. Isa Ali Ibrahim Pantami at the official rebranding ceremony of NITDA in Abuja today, also commissioned the agency’s newly completed Digital Centre.

Dr. Pantami unveiled NITDA’s new Logo, Core Values, Vision and Mission Statement; Integrated Computer Emergency Response and Readiness Centre; Digital Studio for Virtual learning and Digital Conference for remote collaboration.

Speaking at the event, Pantami said, “the reason behind changing the agency’s logo is that the world’s IT has changed from ICT to digital economy. So the current logo encompasses the change”.

He said, the Computer Emergency Response and Readiness Centre was in alignment with the key priority area of His Excellency, President Muhammadu Buhari administration aimed at enhancing the security of the Nation.

“Today there are many challenges with regards to security based on what is happening online. With CERRC teams we will be able to be the watchdog of the federal government, monitor potential cybercriminals attacks on our country, come up with policies and strategies to prevent our country from the attacks or at least reduce it to the barest minimum,” he added.

ES, USPF, Mr Ayuba Shu’aibu; Chairman, NITDA Governing Board, Dr Abubakar Sa’idu and other dignitries at the rebranding and commissioning of projects held at National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) Corporate Headquarters, Abuja.

Earlier, the Director General of NITDA, Kashifu Inuwa said, “the Honourable Minister, my boss and mentor conceptualized all the projects that are about to be commissioned today during his tenure as the Director of this agency.

The DG said, “the new digital center, houses integrated computer emergency response and readiness center to enhance our national cybersecurity, digital multimedia studio for online digital skills and literacy capacity building, and digital conference room for remote collaboration.

“All these initiatives are in consistent with President Muhammadu Buhari’s campaign promises to improve security, diversify economy, and strengthen the fight against corruption.

“This project is in line with the agency’s vision and direction towards facilitating effective service delivery, exclusively in line with the nation’s current drive towards a digital economy”, he said.

Other dignitaries at the event are: the Executive Vice Chairman of NCC, Prof. umar Garba Danbatta, Chairman, Governing Board of NITDA, Dr. Abubakar Sa’idu, Managing Director, Galaxy Backbone Limited, Prof. M.B Abubakar, Managing Director, NIGCOMSAT, Dr. Abimbola Alale and Chairman of the Ministerial Committee on Project Commissioning, Ag. Executive Secretary, USPF, Mr Ayuba Shu’aibu.
