Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, attached to the Kano State Police Command, have arrested a suspected Kuje Correctional Centre escapee.

Police spokesperson in the State, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa disclosed this in a statement Friday.

TheFact Daily gathers that the prison escapee, identified as Abubakar Mohammed Sadiq, aged 25 years, was arrested on 23 September, 2022, at Rangaza Quarters, Ungogo LGA of Kano State.

According to Kiyawa, the arrest was made by a team of Operation Restore Peace operatives attached to the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department, and was based on credible and sustained
intelligence gathering.

He added that the Commissioner of Police, CP Abubakar Lawan, has directed that the suspected escapee be handed over to the Nigeria Correctional Service, Kano State Command.

CP Lawan, while appreciating the good people of the State for their continuous support, encouragement and cooperation, urged them to sustain prayers for the State, and the nation, and report incidents to the nearest police station rather than take laws into their hands.

He further assured that raids of criminal hideouts and black spots would continue throughout the State as the Command would sustain the tempo in ensuring a peaceful atmosphere.
