NDLEA To Go Tough On Operatives Over Misuse Of Operational Jackets

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, has warned that consequences await those who misuse their operational jackets especially for skits and other social media content.

The warning was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday, 25 April 2023, by the Agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Mr. Femi Babafemi.

TheFact Daily gathers that the warning had become necessary following a recently trending video on social media, of ‘operatives’ of the Agency, operating in a minibus. The development, according to Babafemi, elicited several enquiries from concerned members of the public on the authenticity of the content of the video.

But Babafemi, in clearing the air, affirmed that the said video was an old skit produced by one Mathew Eze, who resides in the Lekki area of Lagos. He added that the Agency had, in a statement in May, 2022, disclaimed the video and the persons therein.

The Agency’s Director decried the confusion the controversial video has created in the minds of the members of the public, saying that the development “underscores the need for some social media content producers to show restraint, responsibility and decorum” in their use of the paraphernalia of law enforcement officers to avoid misconceptions and insinuations.
