NERC reappoints dispute resolution panel members for power firms

The Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has reappointed a 12 member Dispute Resolution Panel (DRP) for the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI).

A statement by the AGM, Government, External and Industry Relations at NERC, Michael Faloseyi, said the appointment and reappointment of the members is in line with the Market Rules governing electricity trading in NESI.

The functions of the panel include the arbitration and settlement of disputes between market participants in the Nigerian electricity market, which include the System Operator (SO), the Market Operator (MO), and other licensees engaged in the trading of electricity.

TheFact reports that the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) and the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) had altercations a fortnight ago over energy load rejection.

NERC had met with the parties to resolve the dispute, adding that it will hold such meetings again with TCN and other DisCos.

NERC advised market participants to take advantage of the channel of alternative dispute resolution especially with the panel to resolve disputes.

Members of the panel include Olufunmilayo Roberts, Adeyemi Akisanya, Augustine Mamedu, Adeyemi Oyedele, and Hussaini Mohammed.

The others are, Okechukwu Chiazor, Ajagbe Oyetunde, Onagoruwa Bolanle, Ezekiel Osarieme, Batholomew Onyejekwe, Nnena Ejekam, and Sadiku Folorunsho.
