No Empathy In Buhari’s Speech -Dr. Adamu

President Buhari

Security Risk Management and Intelligence Specialist, Dr. Kabir Adamu has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s speech on EndSARS Protests across the country.

Dr. Adamu made this known during “Politics Today”, a program on Channels Television yesterday.

He said, “I was expecting three things: i was expecting empathy, i was expecting confidence building and i was expecting hope. The only thing I heard out of those three was a bit of confidence building; the programmes his administration had realled out and that the youths should capitalise on, unfortunately
I did not hear the empathy that I expected.

“Of course, he gave all the indications a leader should give. The rights to protest and to protect. Those that are not protesting, where the rights of those protesting stopped, that is where rights of those that are not protesting starts. I hear all of that, unfortunately, I did not hear the empathy I was expecting.

“Example of empathy; I would have expected the President to tell the parents of those who lost their loved ones and others who died. Sympathise with them and also indicate he is probably going to visit them, unfortunately, I didn’t hear that.

“In the area of hope, I didn’t hear much of that, unfortunately. We have a population of 40million plus youths that are disenchanted and that is the language they were expecting to hear,” he said.

The President came out yesterday to address Nigerians after two weeks of peaceful protest by the youths across the country demanding for Police Reforms and an end to Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and brutality.

The Fact Nigeria gathered that what started as a peaceful protest across the country later turned bloody when it was hijacked by hoodlums.

It also gathered that the blood which was flowing in torrent in the streets of Nigeria later turned to veritable flood due to destruction of lives and properties.

The President therefore, called on the youths to discontinue the street protests and constructively engage government in finding solutions.

“Your voice has been heard loud and clear and we are responding”, he said.
