NUEE Industrial Action: AEDC Assures Timely Resolution Of Issues

The Management of Abuja Electricity Distribution Company (AEDC) has assured timely resolution of issues with the National Union of Electricity Employees (NUEE) for the interest of its customers.

AEDC’s assurance came shortly after the union shutdown the company’s facilities across its franchise area in order to press home its demands.

TheFact Nigeria gathered that the industrial action was as a result of failure to pay all outstanding entitlements to workers.

The union listed the entitlements to include: Thrift Deductions of 7 months, Pension Remittances of 19 months, Remaining Batches of year 2020 productivity Bonus, 3rd batch of Bulk Rent and Union check off Dues of 4 Months.

A letter signed by the union’s Zonal Organiser (Liaison), Comr. A.S. Kolade said, Seven (7) Days ultimatum was given to the AEDC management before the action.

He said, the ultimatum expired midnight of Friday, November 19th , 2021 hence, the industrial action,
threatening that industrial peace would not be guaranteed until the above mentioned entitlements are paid.

Meanwhile, a statement by the General Manager, Corporate Communications,
AED Plc, Bode Fadipe said, all hands will be on deck to resolve the issues that prompted the action.

The statement in parts said, “following the industrial action embarked upon by the National Union of Electricity Employees, power supply to some of our areas of operation, especially those on the 11kV network, may be affected.

AEDC Headquarters Abuja shut.

“We would like to assure all our customers that all hands are on deck to resolve the issues that prompted this action.

“We would also like to apologize to our costumers for the inconvenience and disruption”, the statement said.
