Our Efforts On Covid-19 Yielding Fruits- Onu

The Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu has said that efforts made by the Ministry in response to Covid-19 pandemic have started yielding positive results.

Speaking when he received a donation of Personal Protective Equipment from the China Great Wall Industry Corporation, Dr. Onu said agencies of the Ministry like Raw Materials Research and Development Council (RMRDC), The National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) and others have designed and supplied Personal Protective Equipment’s (P.P.E) for use in Nigerian hospitals and other corporate organisations.

In his words: “Though the pandemic has adversely affected our economic and social life, it has also created opportunities for us to look in-ward.”

According to Dr. Onu, the relevant agencies of the Ministry are working strenuously in their research laboratories to find solution to various problems thrown up by the pandemic.

The Director Press and Publicity, Abdulganiyu Aminu in a statement said, the home-grown solution being developed by the Ministry’s researchers covers all sectors like health, entrepreneurship, education etc.

Dr. Onu thanked the corporation for the donation and assured that Nigeria’s relationship with China will continue to grow, adding that Nigeria will continue to collaborate with China in satellite technology.

Earlier, the representative of China Great Wall Industry Corporation, Ms. Wang Ming said the donation of the PPE’S was to support Nigeria’s fight against the spread of Covid-19.

She expressed hope and optimism that Nigeria will soon overcome the challenges posed by the Virus.
