Rivers LG Polls Victory: APC Has Lost All Footholds -PDP Boasts

With its landslide victory at the local government polls in Rivers State, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress, (APC) has lost  its footholds not only in Rivers but also in the South South region and the nation at large.

The PDP also said that the Rivers election signifies that the APC only exists in the empty boasts of their few disoriented leaders, who have lost credence in the sight of the people and are only hanging around waiting for President Buhari to complete his second and final term in office.

These were obtained from the official Twitter handle of the new PDP, @Official PDPNig on Monday.

@OfficialPDPNig wrote: “The party asserts that the overwhelming victory in a state like Rivers, with its egalitarian population and political exposure further confirms that parties like the fizzling and shambolic @OfficialAPCNg and its leaders have lost all footholds not only in the state but also in the South South region and the nation at large.

“The PDP says the election has shown that the @OfficialAPCNg only exists in the empty boasts of their few disoriented leaders, who have lost credence in the sight of the people and are only hanging around waiting for President Buhari to complete his second and final term in office.

“Moreover, the @OfficialPDPNig’s wholesale electoral victory is a reaffirmation of the popularity and acceptance of @GovWike in his unprecedented development of the state in all sectors in line with the manifesto and ideology of the PDP.

“The @OfficialPDPNig congratulates @GovWike, the newly elected local government chairmen and councilors as well as the people of Rivers state for the triumph of democracy in the state.

“The party urges the newly elected council officials to emulate @GovWike and hit the ground running in the development of the state in line with the vision of the governor and the @OfficialPDPNig.”

Meanwhile, the PDP won all the 23 Chairmanship seats in the Rivers State Local Government Elections which held on Saturday.

The Chairman, Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Retired Justice George Omereji announced this while addressing newsmen at the Commissions’ headquarters in Port Harcourt on Sunday.

Omereji said the PDP also won all the 319 councillorship positions in the state.
