Terror Threat: Buhari Convenes Emergency Security Meeting

President Muhammadu Buhari is to convene an emergency meeting of the National Security Council, NSC, today in Abuja.

A statement by the presidential spokesman, Mallam Garba Shehu, on Sunday, stated that the president would meet with security chiefs at the State House, Abuja, to further review and strengthen the security network in the country.

TheFact Daily recalls that the President had, on Friday, said the recent changes in travel advice from the US and UK governments should not be a cause for panic, and urged citizens to remain calm, yet vigilante, adding that it was important to avoid panic as the security agents had been in charge of the situation since the July prison raid in Kuje.

According to Shehu, President Buhari, who was initially scheduled to commission the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI) new Technology and Innovation Complex, had to postpone the commissioning to a later date because of the meeting.

Expected at the meeting include the Chief of Defence Staff, the three service chiefs, Inspector-General of Police, Director-General of Department of State Service, Director of Military Intelligence, among other top military and security chiefs.
