Troops Repel Terrorists’ Attempted Attack On Dikwa Town 

The Army has reported that troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE has again proved their mettle by successfully repelling an attack on Dikwa town by Boko Haram Terrorists (BHTs) and Islamic State of West Africa Province.

Army Spokesman, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Yerima, who made this known in a statement released today, disclosed that the terrorist groups who stormed the town with gun trucks and motorcycles met with heavy and overwhelming fire and bombardments by troops of 81 Task Force Battalion, 112 Task Force Battalion, Ajiri, and elements of 402 Special Forces Brigade with maximum air support by the Air Task Force Operation Lafiya Dole, and that the terrorists suffered heavy casualty, with their gun trucks and other equipment destroyed.

TheFact Nigeria, reports that Boko Haram militants on Monday evening, displaced security operatives and took control of the ancient town of Dikwa in Borno, northeast Nigeria.

The attack on Dikwa took place  barely days after the military engaged the insurgents in a battle to retake Marte Local Government Area from the militants.

Ibrahim Attahiru has commend the troops for their resilience and doggedness in the fight against insurgency and assures all well meaning members of the society in general and Borno state in particular to disregards all forms of malicious reports on social media, and urges them to go about their normal daily activities.

In another development, Boko Haram militants are also attacking Bukarti, Yunusari Local Government Area of Yobe State.

Yobe State is about 120km from Maiduguri in the northeast Nigeria.

The attack on Burkarti in Yunusari Local Government Area, about 200km from Damaturu, the state capital is coming barely 24 hours after residents reported strange movement and gathering of suspected militants in the area.
