The Global Vice Chairman, Advocacy for Good Governance and Social Justice Network, Amb. Hussaini Coomassie, has assured Nigerians in Diaspora Organisations (NIDO) of his readiness to help them achieve their objectives.
Coomassie gave the undertaking when he hosted executives of NIDO in his office, Saturday.
Among issues of concerns raised by NIDO exco, were difficulty encountered in exporting local content, Diaspora voting, ease of passports and the like.
In terse statement on the visit, the ambassador said: “We discussed about Diaspora voting, which they have already met with the leadership of National Assembly and I promised to follow up for them.
“They are pleading with the FG to inaugurate the NIDCOM Board, to enable the commission to on all inclusive Organization with representatives of each continent with usa having the highest number of representatives.
“We discussed issues regarding difficulties they face exporting our local products abroad”.
He added thus: “They (NIDO exco) are insisting on getting more passport issuing centres in Africa for now, at least 2 centres in each Region, (North, South, East & West Africa), to ease movement of Nigerians who cover thousands of kilometres to procure their Nigerian passports”.
Recalling his selfless efforts, Coomassie said: “I remember in 2017 I was the one that pressurised CGI (Muhammed) Babandede to have urgently despatched Immigration officers to Georgia for capturing of about 2000 Nigerians that were stranded then.
“Currently, the continent has only one processing centre. So, there is need to save Nigerians from such hazardous journey to Nairobi Kenya, to capture their passports”.
