Zamfara APC Faction Pleads For Buni’s Intervention

The Zamfara State faction of the All progressive Congress (APC) pledging loyalty to Senator Kabiru Marafa has threatened that the crisis presently rocking the party will continue to increase to the National level if the Chairman/Caretaker committee Governor Mai Mala Buni fails to intervene.

Speaking to Newsmen at the Party’s National Secretariat in Abuja Wednesday, the former publicity secretary of the party in the state, Bello Bekyasuwa, said information reaching them from reliable sources has postulated that the APC By-Election screening committee has disqualified its candidate for the Bakura State Constituency, Sani Mohammed Yar’kofogi, based on the allegation that he didn’t resign properly from his former office, and this he said was done to favour the faction loyal to the former governor of the State Abdulazeez Yari, who he accused of being responsible for the present crisis in the state, thereby destroying the party for his personal gains.

Bekyasuwa also alleged that he noticed a sense of bias at the screening level which prompted them to speak to the journalists at the APC Secretariat.

He therefore urged the Caretaker committee to urgently proffer solutions to all crises in the party, including that of Zamfara State as its part of their major responsibility and also the major reason why the committee was set up.

Speaking further, Bekyasuwa dismissed the report trending in social media that the APC Caretaker Committee has instructed the ex Governor Yari faction to sanction their faction, arguing that the Buni committee cannot descend as low as compromising or even toiling with the party’s interest.

According to him, the caretaker committee has been following the footstep of President Muhammadu Buhari, whom he said has maintained neutrality in the affairs of the APC.

However, he lamented that since the Zamfara APC crisis started, nobody, including Odigie Oyegun, Adams Oshiomole, and the current Mai Mala Buni, has not questioned Governor Yari over how he made the party to lose all the elections in the state in 2019.

He said rather, the camp loyal to Marafa is being treated and accused of being the people that made the APC to lose Zamfara to PDP, even when it is clear that they are fighting to defend democracy at the grassroots.

Making reference to the judicial pronouncement on the crisis, the ex APC factional spokesman said a competent court had sacked all factions of the party in the state, hence the need to have congress to elect new candidates that will restore peace in the state chapter of the party.

Meanwhile, there is confusion over the fate of the APC candidate loyal to Senator Marafa, whom the faction claimed was disqualified in a report of the screening committee which they sighted, even as they said the screening committee has not communicated to him that he is cleared.

Finally, he urged the Caretaker Committee to urgently see that necessary actions are put in place to resolving all the present disputes in the party for it to move forward.
