Police Rescue Kidnap Victim, Arrest Suspected Kidnapper, In Delta
Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, Delta State Command have rescued a kidnap victim and arrested a suspected member of a kidnapping gang.
The rescue of the victim and subsequent arrest of the suspect was disclosed on Friday, by the State Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Bright Edafe.
TheFact Nigeria gathers that on Tuesday, 5 October, at about 7:30 am, the Command received information from a distressed caller (name withheld) to the effect that the day before, at around 11:30 am, while driving to Lagos in a Futon Truck with reg No. FST 345 YD in company of his girlfriend, Mohammed Sekinat, he was blocked along Koko road junction Oghara by a 3-man armed robbery/kidnapping gang.
He disembarked from the vehicle and escaped while the hoodlums forcefully took his girlfriend away into the bush. Operatives of Oghara Division were immediately dispatched to the area, who, upon credible intelligence led investigation, located their hideout along Pan Ocean road by Koko junction.
The gang members, on sighting the police teams took to their heels abandoning the kidnapped victim. In the process of fleeing, however, one of the suspects, Emuesiri Umukoro was arrested. The kidnap victim identified the suspect as a member of the gang who kidnapped her.
Manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.
