Abubakar Malami Not Yet In Presidential Race -Spokesman
Although speculation is rife that Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice (AGF) Dr. Abubakar Malami may be vyeing for the Presidential seat, fillers have it that Malami may not have yet declared interest to contest any elective position come 2023.
Dr. Umar Jibrilu Gwandu, Special Assistant on Media and Public Relations in the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice made this known in a statement in Abuja on Tuesday.
TheFact Nigeria gathered that Abubakar Malami was also reported to be eyeing the Kebbi State governorship seat, a claim that was vehemently denied by some of his associates.
Dr. Gwandu said the clarification became necessary in view of a ‘false and fabricated publication in some section of the media’.
He thanked the teeming supporters of the Minister and the general public for expressing their interest, saying that at the appropriate time, they would hear from the horses mouth in full glare of the media, stakeholders, like-minds, party faithful and teeming supporters.
He said the declaration to contest for a political position was never done hidden such that could be reported as a scoop by a section of the media.
He said the report was triggered out of curiosity and eagerness by followers and loyalists.
Meanwhile, a video was being circulated as the purported declaration.
Gwandu said it was mischievously translated with fabricated insersions and interpolations that cannot in spirit and context establish the malinformation circulation.
