Tinubu, Atiku Condole Chimamanda Over Son’s Death

By Sunday Etuka

President Bola Tinubu and former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, have commiserated with renowned Author, Ms Chimamanda Adichie and husband, Dr Ivara Esege, over the passing of their son, Nkanu Nnamdi.

Adiche’s Communication team while confirming the incident earlier in a statement, said the boy passed away on Wednesday, 7th January 2026, and called on the public to respect the wishes of the family to grieve in private.

However, President Tinubu in his condolence message to the family on Thursday said as a parent who has suffered the loss of a loved one, no grief is as devastating as losing a child.

On his part, Atiku Abubakar said “My heart goes out to Chimamanda Adichie, and her husband, Dr Ivara Esege on the loss of their son.

“There can be no loss like the loss of a child. My thoughts and prayers are with the Esage and Adichie families and all of their friends.

“May God grant them strength, peace, and solace as they mourn this painful loss.”
