
The Delta state Police Command says operatives of the CP Special Assignment have neutralized four suspected kidnappers following a gun duel, and recovered a firearm.
The state Command’s spokesperson, Edafe Bright, disclosed this on Monday, 17th March, 2025.
According to him, the team had earlier arrested one suspect while attempting to purchase an AK 47 rifle ammunition at about 11:30 pm of Sunday 9th March. The suspect, during interrogation revealed the the location where the rifle was hidden.
The operatives stormed the bush along the railway line in Agbarho where the gang members, upon sighting the police engaged the team in a fierce gun duel. The firefight ended with four of the suspects sustaining serious gunshot wounds, and the recovery of the firearm.
The injured suspects were taken to the general hospital Ughelli for treatment, where they were later confirmed dead by the doctor, following which, their corpses were deposited at the hospital morgue, even as efforts are ongoing to trail and arrest the fleeing hoodlums.
Furthermore, on Wednesday, 12 March 2025, at about 11am, the Ibusa police Division received a distress report from an indegene of Ibusa to the effect that his friend’s wife had been kidnapped five days before, and that a ransome had been paid, including food items.
Acting on useful information provided, the DPO Ibusa police station, swiftly mobilized the patrol team of Ibusa division alongside vigilantes and stormed the bush where the suspect, Abdulahi Isah, was arrested and taken into custody even as investigations are ongoing.
Similarly, a sting operation conducted by operatives of the CP Special assignment team in Agbogidi area in Warri South LGA, led to the arrest of one Gideon Sunday, 34, alongside his accomplice, Godstime Solomon who were riding in a tricycle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of a locally made cut-to-size gun loaded with two live cartridges wrapped in a polythene bag and concealed in the engine compartment of the tricycle.
Also in Warri, another suspect named Junior Moses was arrested and a locally made gun and two live cartridges were recovered. His confessions led operatives to Sapele town, where they arrested one suspect, Great Odiete, from whom one Beretta pistol was recovered.
The suspects confessed to being a members of Supreme Vikings confraternity. The suspects and exhibit are in custody and investigation is ongoing.
