Vice President Kashim Shettima has returned to Abuja after successful engagements at the swearing-in of President Alassane Ouattara of Côte d’Ivoire.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media & Communications, Office of the Vice President, Stanley Nkwocha, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Nkwocha explained that while in Côte d’Ivoire, the Vice President, who represented President Bola Tinubu, spotlighted Nigeria’s Renewed Hope Agenda reforms to his counterparts and development partners.
Senator Shettima joined other African leaders and international dignitaries at Monday’s inauguration ceremony, held at the Presidential Palace in Abidjan.
Ouattara won re-election on October 25, 2025, securing another term to lead the West African nation, which maintains strong diplomatic relations with Nigeria.
At the event, according to the statement, the Vice President congratulated President Alassane Ouattara on behalf of President Bola Tinubu following his swearing-in as President of Côte d’Ivoire.
The Vice President also expressed confidence in President Ouattara’s leadership and wished him a successful administration.
He further reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening its partnership with Côte d’Ivoire for the continued development and stability of the West African region.
On the sidelines, the Vice President held a strategic meeting with the World Bank Managing Director of Operations, Anna Bjerde, aimed at attracting more investment commitments to Nigeria in line with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
Nigeria has maintained a longstanding commitment to supporting sister nations in West Africa and upholding the principles of constitutional governance.
Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire work closely together on multiple fronts.Both countries partner through ECOWAS and the African Union on issues ranging from security to trade and development.
Their cooperation is reinforced by a Bi-National Commission and several agreements covering areas such as combating human trafficking, enhancing agriculture, and expanding the digital economy.
