
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has ordered investigation into the alleged unprofessional conducts displayed by players and officials during the 2025 TotalEnergies CAF African Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament, holding in Morocco.
CAF said it has opened an investigation into the match incidents during Quarter Finals between Cameroon and Morocco, as well as Algeria and Nigeria.
CAF is the administrative and controlling body for association football, beach soccer, and futsal in Africa.
The African football body, in a statement on Monday, said it has “collected recent match reports and video evidence indicating potentially unacceptable behaviour from some players and officials and has opened an investigation into the match incidents during theTotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2025 quarter-final fixtures between Cameroon and Morocco, as well as Algeria and Nigeria.”
It said it has referred the matters to the Disciplinary Board for investigation and has called for appropriate action to be taken if the identified persons were to be found guilty of any wrong doing.
CAF said it is also reviewing footage of an incidentinvolving members of the media who allegedly misbehaved in the mixed zone area.
It said it strongly condemns any inappropriate behaviour which occurs during matches, especially those targeting the refereeing team or match organizers.
CAF assured that appropriate actions would be sought against anyone whose behaviour is not consistent with professional conduct at CAF events.
