
The Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated Uganda 3-1 in their final Group C match at the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON)2025, in Fez Stadium, Morocco.
Nigeria is topping the group with nine points, zero lose and zero draw, advancing to the knockout stage with high momentum.
Paul Onuachu gave Nigeria the lead in the 28th minute, which shows the Super Eagles’ early dominance in the match.
The Super Eagles controlled possession and created numerous chances, but Uganda held firm until a pivotal moment early in the second half.
Jamal Salim was sent off for handling the ball outside the penalty area, reducing the Uganda’s squad to 10 men and shifting the game in Nigeria’s favour.
Midfielder, Raphael Onyedika seized the opportunity, scoring twice in the game in the 62nd and 67th minutes.
While Rogas Mato secured a goal for Uganda. through Nigeria’s goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho in the 75th minutes.
Uganda’s 2025 AFCON’s dream ended today in their 3-1 loss to Nigeria as they finished 4th in group C’s table with just a point.
