AFCON: Nigeria Defeats Mozambique 4:0 In Knockout Stage

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have defeated Mozambique 4:0 in the Africa Cup of Nations Round of 16, at the Complexe Sportif de Fès Stadium, on Monday evening in Morocco.

The three-time champions, under coach Eric Chelle, showcased their dominance in the 2025 AFCON tournament, becoming the first team in this tournament to score four goals in a single match and advancing to the quarter-finals with head high.

The Super Eagles’ breakthrough came through Lookman’s creativity, which gave Nigeria the lead in the 20th minutes.

Victor Osimhen, the Galatasaray’s striker, increased Nigeria’s goals by giving a brace in the 25th, and 47th minutes.

Adams Akor, the Sevilla FC forward, sealed the match with his fourth goal in the 75 minutes, making Nigeria the first team in this tournament to score four goals in a single match.

With this win, Nigeria has now scored 12 goals in four matches at AFCON 2025.

Ademola Lookman wins the Man of the Match against Mozambique.

The Super Eagles now await the winner of Algeria vs DR Congo in the quarter-finals.
