General Musa said public trust and cooperation remain critical to restoring peace and stability, noting that the sacrifices of fallen heroes are strengthened by citizens’ resilience and support.

He added that under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, defence initiatives have been aligned with national development priorities, highlighting the amendment of the DICON Act to boost local defence production and reduce foreign dependence.

The Defence Minister also noted that improved personnel welfare, enhanced training, and the deployment of Special Operations Forces have increased operational effectiveness, supported by stronger regional and international partnerships.

The symposium, themed “Armed Forces and National Development,” featured a paper by Lt Gen Tukur Yusuf Buratai (Rtd) and discussions by other retired service chiefs on the evolving security environment and the military’s role in national development.
