The Minister of Transportation, Senator Said Alkali, has resigned his appointment to pursue his ambition of contesting in the forthcoming governorship election.
This was conveyed on Tuesday in a statement signed by the minister’s Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Umar Jibril.
TheFactDaily notes that his resignation is in line with a presidential directive requiring all political appointees seeking elective positions to step down from office.
In a letter addressed to the Presidency, Alkali expressed appreciation to the President for the opportunity to serve, noting that his tenure witnessed significant progress in the transportation sector.
“The opportunity to serve has been both impactful and rewarding,” he stated, highlighting achievements recorded during his time in office.
The President has since accepted the resignation and commended the former minister for his dedicated service to the nation.
