Governor of Zamfara State, in North West Nigeria, Dr. Bello Matawalle may not be leaving his party, the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) soon.
This is because Governor Matawalle recently assured that he is steadfastly committed to his party, the Peoples Democratic Party.
The Zamfara Governor gave the assurance to his Rivers State counterpart, Chief Nyesom Wike who was among a team of six Governors and Chieftains from the Peoples Democratic Party who paid him a visit in Gusau, the State capital.
Rivers State Governor, Chief Nyesom Wike disclosed this in a tweet obtained via his official Twitter handle, @GovWike.
@GovWike wrote: “Yesterday I was in Zamfara State as part of a team of six Governors from the @OfficialPDPNig Governors Forum led by the Governor of Sokoto State, Rt. Hon. @AWTambuwal, to commiserate with the Governemnt.
“The Zamfara State Governor, Dr @Bellomatawalle1, who was elated by our visit assured us of his steadfast commitement to the PDP.”
TheFact Nigeria observed that the PDP made the fast move as a key step towards ensuring that Governor Matawalle remained in the party.
The move became necessary in the face of speculations that after some All Progressives Congress, (APC) governors paid him a visit recently, Governor Matawalle was planing to dump the PDP for the APC.
The visit by the six PDP governors and other chieftains to Governor Matawalle was intended to prevail on him to remain within the PDP.
