“We have involved a system of data generation, collation, and application for the purpose of evaluation and planning. Stakeholders are not unaware of our renewed commitment to non-intrusive inspection, which prioritises the deployment of technology while adopting risk management strategies for prevention and mitigation of the effects of infractions.”

On the progress made so far, the Area Controller highlighted the command’s achievements, including generating N2.357 trillion in revenue last year, doubling the N1.1 trillion collected in 2023.

Olomu stressed the importance of compliance, stating that it yields a win-win result across the board.

“It saves time and prevents government revenue loss and job losses to the private sector. It helps build integrity ratings for traders and results in better outcomes during the filing of port users”, he stated.

Representatives of sister agencies at the event took turns to commend the high level of collaboration displayed by the command.

The Director of Ports Inspection, NAFDAC, Dr. Olakunle Olaniran, conveyed the agency’s gratitude for the top-notch synergy between Customs and NAFDAC at Apapa port.

“We have enjoyed highly commendable cooperation with Customs over the years, but in recent times we have had an unprecedented level of collaboration that is worth celebrating. Nigeria is a country that is still navigating the path to growth, and collaboration is what guarantees the much-desired growth”, Olaniran stated.
