Army Chief Redeploys Senior Officers For Greater Operational Efficiency

The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu, has approved the posting and appointment of senior officers to key command, staff, and instructional positions across formations, units, and training institutions of the Nigerian Army.

Describing the move as decidive, the Acting Director, Army Public Relations, Lt. Col. Appolonia Anele, said it was aimed at reinvigorating leadership, strengthening command structures, and repositioning the Nigerian Army (NA) for heightened operational effectiveness,

Among the newly appointed senior officers are Major General Bamidele Alabi, who has been redeployed to Army Headquarters Department of Policy and Plans and appointed Chief of Policy and Plans (Army); Major General Jamal Abdulsalam, formerly Chief of Special Services and Programmes at Army Headquarters, now Chief of Defence Operations at Defence Headquarters; and Major General Peter Mala, who moves from the Office of the National Security Adviser to Headquarters Training and Doctrine Command Nigerian Army (TRADOC) as Commander.

Similarly, Major General Samson Jiya moves from the Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre (NAHFC) to Defence Headquarters Department of Defence Accounts and Budget as Chief of Defence Accounts and Budget.

Other strategic appointments include Major General Mayirenso Saraso as Chief of Operations (Army), Major General Isa Abdullahi as Chief of Administration (Army), Major General Musa Etsu-Ndagi as Chief of Civil-Military Affairs, and Major General Abubakar Haruna as Commander, Nigerian Army Training Centre (NATRAC) Kontagora.

In addition, Major General Godwin Mutkut has been appointed Corps Commander Infantry, Major General Umar Abubakar as Commander Armour Corps, Major General John Adeyemo as Corps Commander Artillery, and Major General Mohammed Abdullahi as Corps Commander Signals.

Also appointed are Major General Taofik Sidick as Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army), Major General Abdullahi Ibrahim as Corps Commander Ordnance, Major General Adeyinka Adereti as Corps Commander Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, and Major General Nansak Shagaya as Corps Commander Supply and Transport. Brigadier General Yusha’u Ahmed has been named Acting Corps Commander Education.

Furthermore, Major General Oluyemi Olatoye has been appointed Commandant, Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA), Kaduna; Major General Emmanuel Mustapha as Commandant, Nigerian Army Signal School; Major General Adamu Hassan as Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Artillery; and Brigadier General John Bulus as Commandant, Nigerian Army School of Finance and Accounts.

Field command appointments include Major General Saidu Audu as Force Commander, Multi-National Joint Task Force (MNJTF), N’Djamena; Major General Warrah Idris as Commander, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA; and Major General Oluremi Fadairo as General Officer Commanding 82 Division and Commander, Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA.

The COAS also appointed Major General Olatokumbo Bello as Director, Defence Media Operations, and Brigadier General Samaila Uba as Director, Defence Information.

Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu charged the newly appointed officers to apply their wealth of experience, administrative acumen, and strategic foresight in strengthening the Army’s combat readiness to confront contemporary and emerging security challenges.

He further urged them to sustain operational momentum, enhance interagency cooperation, and remain steadfast in upholding the Army’s core values of loyalty, selfless service, integrity, and excellence.
