Benue Reopens Isolation, Testing Centres To Curtail Delta Covid-19 Variant
Benue State’s Commissioner for Information, Tourism and Culture, Mrs Ngunan Addingi has said that isolation and testing centers in the State have been reopened to forestall the spread of the new Delta variant of coronavirus.
The Commissioner said this on Wednesday after the State Executive Council, (SEC) in Makurdi.
TheFact Nigeria learnt that at least one person was said to be undergoing testing for the Delta variant of Coronavirus in the State.
Mrs Addingi said that aggressive sensitization would be embarked upon in all parts of the state.
She said there was a rumor that someone who may have contracted the new variant came into the State and was asked to undergo isolation and testing.
Mrs Addingi said: “The World Health Organization, (WHO) has released a soft funding to the State to carry out massive sensitization on the danger of the new variant.
“Everyone has gone back to work. All hands are on deck in ensuring that the State does not record any case of the new Delta variant.
She said that a retreat had been organized for all health workers as part of measures to check the variant.
The Commissioner also the State Executive Council had approved the submission of a supplementary budget estimates of 21billon, seventy four million and one hundred twenty six thousand, six hundred and eighty-four Naira only (N21,074,126,684.00) for the fiscal year 2021 to the House of Assembly.
She also said that the termination of a contract for the rehabilitating of Gboko Township road Contract (BNTB-50/2006) awarded to M/S Taes Robboni Nig Ltd since 2006 with an initial contract sum of 144,567,685.51 while over 267.943.144.06 naira was certified.
“With the value of work done N13,824,700.27 was paid with a balance of 3,000,000.00. Amount paid, N10,824.700.27. Reason for the termination is non performance”, she said.
