Bruno Labbadia Rejects Super Eagles Job

The newly appointed Super Eagles coach, Bruno Labbadia, has turned down his appointment.

Labbadia was unveiled on Tuesday by the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF), to replace Finidi George, who resigned after being in charge of the national team for four matches earlier this year.

The NFF statement read, “The Nigeria Football Federation has announced that it has reached an agreement with German tactician, Bruno Labbadia, to become the Head Coach of Nigeria’s senior men’s national team, Super Eagles.”

However, a report published by the German website Kicker on Friday said, “Bruno Labbadia will not be the new national coach of Nigeria.

“The 58-year-old German football coach had been negotiating with the Africans for a week and, according to information from kicker, decided against a contract on Friday.”

Born on February 8, 1966, Bruno Labbadia is a German football manager and former player who played as a striker.

He won the DFB-Pokal in 1989-90 with 1. FC Kaiserslautern and the Bundesliga in 1993-94 with FC Bayern Munich.

He was also capped twice for the German team. He last managed VFB Stuttgart.
