The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Waidi Shaibu, has declared that the era of reactive military engagements is over, warning that terrorists and other violent criminals will find no sanctuary anywhere within Nigeria.
The Army Chief made the assertion during his maiden operational visit to the 4 Special Forces Command in Doma, Nasarawa State, where he charged troops to intensify high-impact, intelligence-led operations aimed at decisively defeating insurgents nationwide.
Addressing personnel of the 4 Special Forces Command and the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, the Army Chief emphasised the need for precision-driven missions to dominate the battlespace.
He urged troops to remain proactive, adaptive and mission-focused, stressing that the evolving security environment demands speed, surprise and superior combat readiness.
He noted that the Nigerian Army Special Forces remain at the forefront of efforts to dismantle criminal networks threatening national security and must sustain the operational momentum.
During the visit, the COAS received briefings from the Commander, Major General Olurotimi Azubuike Awolo, and the Commandant of the Nigerian Army Special Forces School, Brigadier General Umar Faruk Abubakar.
He expressed satisfaction with operational and training standards and approved the construction of additional accommodation blocks and critical facilities to enhance training capacity, operational efficiency and troop welfare.
Shaibu also reaffirmed his commitment to prioritising the welfare of officers and soldiers, pledging continued investment in training, logistics and modern combat enablers to sustain battlefield dominance.
The visit concluded with a symbolic tree-planting exercise within the cantonment.
