CDS Orders Immediate Investigation Into Killing Of Military Personnel In Delta
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has directed the immediate investigation and arrest of perpetrators of the gruesome killing of military personnel in Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State.
This was made known by the Acting Director, Defence Information, Brig-Gen Tukur Gusau, in a statement on Saturday, in which he gave a situation report on the incident.
TheFact Daily learns that troops of 181 Amphibious Batallion, Bomadi Local Government Area of Delta State, while on peace mission to Okuoma community in Bomadi LGA of Delta State in Thursday, 14th March, were surrounded by some community youths and were killed.
The troops had responded to a distress call following a communal crisis between Okuoma and Okoloba communities, both in Delta State.
A reinforcement team sent to the scene, and led by the Commanding Officer was also attacked by the youths, which led to the death of the Commanding Officer, 2 Majors, 1 Captain and 12 soldiers.
According to Gusau, the incident has been reported to the Delta State government, and so far, a few arrests have been made while steps are in place to unravel the motive behind the attack.
